Creating excitement and increased participation was the impetus behind a new effort during the 2016 outdoor season. “The USA Track & Field Ohio Association Track and Field Grand Prix was designed to encourage and assist local clubs in hosting well-run, fun meets and to encourage our local athletes to participate,” said W. Curtis Stitt of New World Track Club. “Great meets with strong competition is key to the growth and success of our athletes.”
Ohio Association's own Cameron Haught led the US U20 men's team this morning at the 10k distance of the IAAF World Race Walking Team Championships Rome 2016.
Cameron Haught, 17, from Enon, OH won the junior division 10K race at the USA Track & Field 2016 US World Race Walking Team Championship Trials in St. Louis, MO on April 3, 2016. His time and win put him on the US World Cup Junior team which will compete in Rome, Italy, May 7-8, 2016. His time also is well under the minimum entry standard of 44:20 for the World Junior events later this summer in Poland
2016 is looking to be a vary busy year for USATF Ohio Association officials. As there are several things that have to be completed within the next several mouths, i e Background Screening and completion of the USOC SafeSport course, than later in the year, last quarter, re-certification for all officials for the new Olympiad (2017-2020).
